I bought this stuff originally for my paintball goggles and it works well for about an hour then you have to put it on again. I like how compact it is and all you need is a clean napkin to apply it. Just throw it together with your gear and you dont have to worry about it spilling because its a paste. I only gave it 4 stars because it doesnt last all day.

I bought this as a gift for my father-in-law who loves poker but isnt the most computer-savvy person in the world. I wanted to get him something that was easy for him to use but still moderately challenging in game play. As anyone who has ever played video card games will attest to, its FAR easier to win a few million dollars in virtually all video poker games than it is to do it in real life. This is a virtual certainty simply because video game manufacturers dont want their customers feeling frustrated, so they make their games easier to win.
That said, this game isnt much different from the rest. It is, as expected, very easy to win. You wont win ALL the time and there are a few things you have to know about poker before you can win, but once youve got the minimal basics down youll end up winning more than youll be losing. Now, thats not necessarily a bad thing. If youre looking for a casual and fun game, this could be right up your alley. If youre looking for something thats a REAL challenge then youd be best served by finding a few buddies and setting up a poker night for everyone.

Graphics and sound are typical classic video game quality think back to the Nintendo Entertainment System or Sega Genesis. Thats about what youre getting here. Its adequate for the job but certainly wont win any awards. Video always displays in standard 4x3 resolution so those with widescreens will see vertical black bars on either side.
I tried this on several different TVs and they all worked, though the graphics quality changed substantially depending on the TV set. A 32" Vizio LCD and my 19" Sony LCD (both widescreens) showed everything crystal clear, although there was some visible pixelation when you got very close to the screen (which most people wouldnt do anyway). A 56" Sony projection TV was arguably nicer than the LCDs, likely due to the natural blurring effect of a non-LCD screen that smoothed out the pixelation. A 12" CRT TV was barely playable words were hard to decipher and similar suits were hard to distinguish (clubs and spades looked very similar). A 9" LCD, however, was perfectly playable so visibility definitely relies more on the quality of the display rather than the size.
The base unit sits on/next to your TV and has a broad infrared receiver on the face. The controls on the base unit are minimal POWER and RESET, basically. The controller includes a four-way directional button that provides navigation, the expected "OK" or "SELECT" button, plus a handful of additional buttons to perform specific actions within the game itself. Range on the infrared system is reasonable at about 20 feet away and at a fairly sharp angle to the unit I was still able to play the game without interruption.
My biggest complaint about the product is its cheap-looking construction. All of the plastics are black and silver with BRIGHT red buttons and look like they were designed after watching a "Buck Rogers in the 24th Century" marathon. There was a little casting flash on the one I bought (which I cut off with a razor blade), numerous visible screws, and just a general overall cheap feeling to it. It hasnt broken so it doesnt seem to be cheaply made it just looks and feels cheap. Which, at $15 or so, it actually is.
All in all, this game is essentially a specialized and glorified handheld casino game. I could very easily see this game being offered on a Game Boy, for example, and not looking much different. Still, for the money and if youre in the right target audience this isnt a bad little game.

I really think this game is great. I purchased one for my Mom and Dad, and one for my brother-in-law too. They love Las Vegas, and have been missing the casino games. I have heard nothing but praise for this game from them, as they play it all the time. It is realistic, and the games are very detailed. It is much easier to see than the hand held games, since it does get viewed on your tv set. Great for the elderly, and young alike. I would recommend this game to anyone that misses the casinos, and would like to brush up on their skills for the next trip to Las Vegas! Great game, will purchase another one for myself.

Dont gamble without a money target and when you hit your target, cash out. Also have a stop loss on you gambling losses.

Hoffmans performance is tremendous, you can see his anguish after every defeat. His compulsion is frightening and makes me want to sue casinos out of business. He pushes away family, friends, and his career, all in the hopes of what?
I like the fact that the town bookie tries to cut him off. You see humanity in the characters. I didnt even recognize Minnie Driver as his girlfriend. This really is one amazing effort from a lead actor. If you didnt know any better, youd think this would be a slow moving film, but it isnt. Recommend this one to friends and family.

In a lot of ways, Philip Seymour Hoffman is the movie. Hes in every scene. The story is based on a true story about a gambling addicted loan officer who "loans" himself some of the banks money to support his habit. In life, hes a nobody. He wouldnt be noticed by anyone. But with the banks money and his penchant for losing big, he becomes somewhat of a VIP in the casino he frequents. Its amusing to watch him walk into the casino and have everyone make a big deal over him. He gets nice suites and meals compliments of the casino, but does not seem interested in either. Hes there for the thrill of gambling. As you watch the movie, you see that his situation becomes out of hand. How could it not? Mahowny loses. He never comes home a winner. At one point Mahowny seems to be in the verge of turning things around for himself. He even somehow is able to find a woman (Minnie Driver) who wants to be with him. But gambling always wins out.
Hoffmans portrayal is even keeled and never seems over the top. As a matter of fact, there isnt much to his character. Its difficult to determine whether or not you like him. For me, thats the weak part of the movie. The movies main character is bland and ordinary. What he does is anything but ordinary, but that isnt enough to carry the movie. In real life, things may be just like we see them here. A one hour documentary on the true story would have been just as satisfying. I would have liked to have seen a little more put into Hoffmans character. Ordinary is fine in real life, but I want to see interesting people when I watch a movie. This movie is worth watching. A more recent Hoffman film had Hoffman playing a similar character in a more intriguing role. Check out "Before The Devil Knows Youre Dead".
The Biggest Loser

Many movies are "based on a true story," but fail to convey the drama of their sources. Owning Mahowny is the opposite. By faithfully recreating the bizarre true story of Dan Mahowny with glamourless authenticity it mercilessly reveals the reality of addiction. Hoffmans restrained performance as Mahowny is the key to its success.
The plot is as simple, and focused, as Mahownys life. A bank Vice President in Toronto embezzles 10 million dollars and - because he is a compulsive gambler (and how!) - manages to squander it on bets with his local bookie and tables in Atlantic City and Las Vegas. He is inevitably caught and serves a pretty light 6-year sentence for his caper.
Whats so profoundly disturbing is that for Mahowny, it really is this simple, for him its all about the game. (It had to be explained to me that gamblers do not gamble in hopes of winning, indeed, at one point Mahowny is up millions of dollars. They gamble for the rush, the adrenaline hit of being at the point where in an instant it is possible to lose everything.) Mahoney is so compulsive that he bets randomly - all the home teams - all the underdogs - etc. Even his bookie is appalled. This is not an activity with an endgame - the juice is all in the next bet, like any true addiction the only point of doing it is doing it some more.
Everything about this movies construction reinforces the purity of addiction - its always first. Mahownys car is so beat the parking lot attendant makes fun of it. Mahowny himself looks like an unmade bed, ill-fitting clothes, physically unattractive, his body language screams, "Property Condemned - Keep Out." Mahowny never makes eye contact obviously content to live in the isolation that comes with every kind of addiction. His girlfriend Belinda, Minnie Driver, is the very embodiment of codependence. A nice girl who could do better elsewhere she has yet to learn that loving an addict - or at least being loved by one - is an impossibility.
The movie is not without irony. Mahowny lives a bipolar life - bank - gambling. He steals from one and donates to the other. In the banking world, one assumes, money is handled responsibly. But in one memorable scene we watch bank officials discuss how to manipulate star clients into extending their debt into unsafe territory. How different is it, we wonder, from the blatant bloodsucking of casino manager Victor Foss? John Hurts portrayal of Foss actually outshines Hoffman it is perfection. Foss knows every trick there is to part a fool from his money, but he quickly realizes that Mahowny is no ordinary fool. He is a perfect fool, so single-mindedly focused on his addiction that the temptations sure to manipulate mere mortals cannot distract him. Powerful voodoo.

At one point Mahowny seems to be in the verge of turning things around for himself. He even somehow is able to find a woman (Minnie Driver) who wants to be with him. But gambling always wins out.
Hoffmans portrayal is even keeled and never seems over the top. As a matter of fact, there isnt much to his character. Its difficult to determine whether or not you like him. For me, thats the weak part of the movie. The movies main character is bland and ordinary. What he does is anything but ordinary, but that isnt enough to carry the movie. In real life, things may be just like we see them here. A one hour documentary on the true story would have been just as satisfying. I would have liked to have seen a little more put into Hoffmans character. Ordinary is fine in real life, but I want to see interesting people when I watch a movie. This movie is worth watching. A more recent Hoffman film had Hoffman playing a similar character in a more intriguing role. Check out "Before The Devil Knows Youre Dead".

Many movies are "based on a true story," but fail to convey the drama of their sources. Owning Mahowny is the opposite. By faithfully recreating the bizarre true story of Dan Mahowny with glamourless authenticity it mercilessly reveals the reality of addiction. Hoffmans restrained performance as Mahowny is the key to its success.
The plot is as simple, and focused, as Mahownys life. A bank Vice President in Toronto embezzles 10 million dollars and - because he is a compulsive gambler (and how!) - manages to squander it on bets with his local bookie and tables in Atlantic City and Las Vegas. He is inevitably caught and serves a pretty light 6-year sentence for his caper.
Whats so profoundly disturbing is that for Mahowny, it really is this simple, for him its all about the game. (It had to be explained to me that gamblers do not gamble in hopes of winning, indeed, at one point Mahowny is up millions of dollars. They gamble for the rush, the adrenaline hit of being at the point where in an instant it is possible to lose everything.) Mahoney is so compulsive that he bets randomly - all the home teams - all the underdogs - etc. Even his bookie is appalled. This is not an activity with an endgame - the juice is all in the next bet, like any true addiction the only point of doing it is doing it some more.
Everything about this movies construction reinforces the purity of addiction - its always first. Mahownys car is so beat the parking lot attendant makes fun of it. Mahowny himself looks like an unmade bed, ill-fitting clothes, physically unattractive, his body language screams, "Property Condemned - Keep Out." Mahowny never makes eye contact obviously content to live in the isolation that comes with every kind of addiction. His girlfriend Belinda, Minnie Driver, is the very embodiment of codependence. A nice girl who could do better elsewhere she has yet to learn that loving an addict - or at least being loved by one - is an impossibility.
The movie is not without irony. Mahowny lives a bipolar life - bank - gambling. He steals from one and donates to the other. In the banking world, one assumes, money is handled responsibly. But in one memorable scene we watch bank officials discuss how to manipulate star clients into extending their debt into unsafe territory. How different is it, we wonder, from the blatant bloodsucking of casino manager Victor Foss? John Hurts portrayal of Foss actually outshines Hoffman it is perfection. Foss knows every trick there is to part a fool from his money, but he quickly realizes that Mahowny is no ordinary fool. He is a perfect fool, so single-mindedly focused on his addiction that the temptations sure to manipulate mere mortals cannot distract him. Powerful voodoo.

I really wasnt sure to expect after I ordered this, but thought to give it a try after reading the other reviews. Im really glad I did as this is a very nice poker top. If you dont have room or dont want to invest in an entire "race track" style poker table, this is the way to go, just make sure that you have a table long enough to accomodate it (6x3). I personally like it as when its not being used, it can be folded up for easy storage (in its own carrying case!). The inserts for craps and black jack are a nice little bonus but I would have been just as happy with the product by itself. I play with a pretty rowdy bunch so I bought a can of "Scotch Guard" (you can buy it at any hard ware store) to protect against any beverage spills. Its held up much better than I thought it would through multiple playings and Ive gotten nothing but compliments on it. I would highly recommend this to any aspiring poker player that would like to host a game but doesnt want to invest in a whole poker table.

I bought this table so I could have two, a round one and a long rectangular one to accommodate the 16 people I have over for poker each month. I have a thin folding table that I used this table on but it wasnt quite long enough and if you dont have support all the way under the ends the table will fold and fall off the end of the table. It is very tippy if it isnt fully supported. However, if fully supported its great. Good quality, Ive had no issues with it at all. Great price for the product. The carrying case keeps it clean, its easily cleaned if there are spills (scotch guard it if you need to). The only negative I can think is the little lips the bends in the board make on the table, that little bit of a lip stops the cards from sliding to some players, but thats easily overcome once youre aware of it.

The table is smaller than it looks in the picture, I thought it would cover our dining room table (which is pretty small) and it actually left about 3 inches of table sticking out from under it. The felt wasnt smoothed out properly in several places, leaving bumps when a poker table really needs to be perfectly smooth. Some of the graphics were a little faded as well and over all I was a little disappointed with the quality. With that being said, it is really nice looking set up and my boyfriend loved it. For a guys night of poker it will work just fine.

Makes great crepes, but ... : This crepe maker really does make great crepes, but I wish someone would actually cook with these gadgets before they sell them. The cord coming out of the end of the handle (the picture doesn't show this) is just ridiculous. If your receptacle is in the wall and you're holding the crepe maker by the handle, the cord just gets tangled, in the way and sometimes dunked in the batter. But the worst thing was that after less than 20 uses, the teflon is starting to wear off. Teflon is definitely NOT a good thing to eat, so I am going to retire this crepe maker. I only wish I could find one that didn't have a non-stick coating.

Makes great crepes, but ... : This crepe maker really does make great crepes, but I wish someone would actually cook with these gadgets before they sell them. The cord coming out of the end of the handle (the picture doesn't show this) is just ridiculous. If your receptacle is in the wall and you're holding the crepe maker by the handle, the cord just gets tangled, in the way and sometimes dunked in the batter. But the worst thing was that after less than 20 uses, the teflon is starting to wear off. Teflon is definitely NOT a good thing to eat, so I am going to retire this crepe maker. I only wish I could find one that didn't have a non-stick coating.
